Our guiding principles
- Assess risks before work begins.
- Use competent people and suitable equipment.
- Stop when conditions are unsafe.
- Learn from incidents and concerns.
Scope and responsibility
This policy applies to directors, employees and people acting for PILORA Resources Ltd. Contractors and suppliers are expected to meet equivalent safety standards for work connected to our assignments. The Managing Director is responsible for implementing this policy, allocating appropriate resources and identifying a competent person to coordinate safety for each assignment. Everyone must take reasonable care and raise concerns.
Plan before proceeding
Before a site visit, delivery or coordinated task, review relevant hazards with those involved. Consider vehicles, lifting, machinery, ground conditions, electricity, dust, heat, fatigue and emergency access as applicable. Agree responsibilities and practical controls, prioritising removal of hazards over reliance on personal protective equipment. Reassess when conditions, personnel or the task change.
Work within competence and site rules
People must have the competence, instructions, authorisation and protective equipment appropriate to their task. Required safety equipment must be provided without charge to employees. Check relevant supplier capabilities and equipment suitability before engagement. At client sites, complete required induction and follow access controls, permits and emergency instructions. Clarify conflicting instructions before proceeding; site rules do not remove our responsibility to address unsafe conditions.
Stop work and protect the environment
Anyone may pause an activity they reasonably believe presents serious danger and alert the responsible supervisor or site controller. Work must resume only after risks are addressed and the responsible competent person confirms suitable controls. Nobody will be penalised for an honestly raised safety concern.
Plan material handling and waste arrangements to prevent spills, unnecessary dust, waste and damage to land or water. Follow applicable environmental requirements and agreed site controls. Report environmental incidents promptly.
Report and learn
Report hazards, near misses, injuries and environmental incidents promptly to the assignment lead and the Managing Director. Email info@piloraresourcesltd.com (or piloraresourcesltd@gmail.com as backup) with the subject 'Confidential concern'. For immediate danger, use site emergency arrangements and alert the site controller; email is not an emergency response channel.
The Managing Director will arrange a proportionate review, record corrective actions and any required external notifications, and share relevant lessons. Information will be handled discreetly. Retaliation for raising a concern or helping a review is prohibited.
Oversight and review
The Managing Director will review this policy at least annually and after a serious incident or material change in activities or requirements. Responses may include revised controls, further instruction, pausing work or proportionate contractual or disciplinary action.
